Where directory information comes from
Profiles may combine public professional and business records, provider or clinic submissions, official practice websites, public location information, and patient feedback collected by CareIndex. We distinguish provider-supplied information from patient ratings and do not treat a directory listing as an endorsement.
How ratings are displayed
A star rating is shown only when a profile has a supported rating and review count. Ratings may reflect a clearly identified third-party business listing or eligible feedback submitted through CareIndex. We preserve the review count beside the score because a score without its sample size can be misleading. CareIndex does not invent ratings, convert missing data into stars, or sell a higher organic rating.
Ranking and commercial independence
Organic directory placement is based on relevance to the visitor's query and available profile information. Payment, profile claiming, advertising, or a commercial relationship does not buy a better patient rating. Sponsored placement, when offered, must be visibly labeled and separated from organic results.
Accuracy, updates, and corrections
Healthcare information changes. Visitors should confirm insurance participation, address, hours, services, licensure, and appointment availability directly with the provider. Providers and members of the public can report an error through our contact page. Material corrections are reviewed against authoritative or first-party evidence before publication.
Medical safety standard
CareIndex is an informational directory, not a medical practice, referral service, diagnosis tool, or substitute for professional advice. Directory content is not written to diagnose or treat a condition. For an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
